LOVE FEAR LOSS (FEAR excerpt)

(2012)

COMPANY PREMIERE

Choreography: Ricardo Amarante

Music: Édith Piaf, Charles Dumont & Jacques Brel in the treatment of N. Chepurenko

Piano: Brian Wong

Original Lighting Design: Ricardo Amarante

Lighting Adaptation: Michael Korsch

Costume Design: Ricardo Amarante & Christine Darch

Performed by JILLIAN DAVIS & ALBERTO ANDRADE

Inspired by the moving personal life of French singer Édith Piaf and her music – and that of her contemporaries, such as Jacques Brel, Love Fear Loss, by Brazilian choreographer Ricardo Amarante, explores an arc that goes from the height of a new love, through fear from the decline of intimacy, to the tragic loss of his great love.

In each pas de deux we will appreciate the different phases of a relationship,
a complete reflection of our lives.
To the sound of a piano, three feelings.
The lyrics and voices of the singers are present
in the emotion and interpretation of each couple.

Amarante's work is a moving and stunning tribute to Piaf's love life. Ultimately, it is a celebration of the human condition and the beauty that emerges from even life's darkest moments.
